This post is going to be short, to the point, trivial and above all puerile. (Sorry)
Westminster Bridge was designed by Thomas Page and opened in 1862. I think we can all imagine the complexity in designing such a structure and it seems Page wanted the bridge to look appealing as well as functional and so he included a clover shaped embellishment to the side rails of the bridge.

Job done, he probably sat back in satisfaction. However I wonder if he ever viewed the bridge on a beautiful summers day when the sun was shining from the east directly opposite the bridge? If he did I wonder what his reaction would have been?

Ha! No comment required. Those shadows must have been the tittle-tattle of Victorian London.

Shocking I should have thought. Possibly unaccompanied ladies wouldn’t have been allowed to cross on their own😂
