St James’ Piccadilly has an unusual feature, an outside pulpit. Apparently at certain times of the year the congregation would exceed the available room inside the church and so the service would be held outside in the churchyard with worshipers spilling out onto Piccadilly itself. It was a very wet day when I visited and as you’ll see the only person to remain dry would have been the vicar!
How interesting. I’d never heard of this phenomenon.

Not sure if there’s another purpose built open air pulpit anywhere in the UK. I’ve never come across another in London

My spellchecker went barmy. ‘Extraordinary’ is what my comment should have said!

A great six words and I’m ashamed to say I’ve never noticed it.
On my next walk along Piccadilly I’ll be looking more closely!

It’s usually behind the food stalls during the week
