The building was partly destroyed by a bomb from a German Zeppelin on the 18th December 1917. The front portico is the only remnant of the destroyed building..

    1. It is an unusual design, I believe that it was formally a warehouse and flats designed by a rather Avant Garde architect. The outside looked in keeping with turn of the century design but inside was quite modernist.
